Outreach and events
Together we can accomplish more.
Healing a community happens one person at a time, and also out loud: in crosswalks, fun runs, galas and hard public conversations. Here is where we show up.

The KMH Wellness Foundation
Counselling for people who cannot afford it.
Cost should never be the reason someone goes without care. The foundation bridges the gap between people in need and psychotherapy, funds counselling for those who cannot pay, and works to end the stigma around mental health in our city.
Campaigns we support
- The Dayna Karle Memorial Campaign
- The Andrews Fund Campaign
- The Light the Way Campaign
Partners we show up for.
Throughout the year we build local partnerships to help people in need. Some of them go back years.
Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer Fund
Volunteers who make sure children living in poverty have toys, and their families have hampers, at Christmas.
Founding sponsor, 2021
The Rainbow Collective
An inclusive, empowering home for Gender and Sexual Diversity communities, including Two-Spirit and Intersex people, across Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.
Rainbow Crosswalk, 2020
Thunder Pride
We sponsored the downtown Rainbow Crosswalk, to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ neighbours and bring awareness and hope.
The Salvation Army
Including the Santa Shuffle, a 5 km fun run and 1 km elf walk where participants fundraise for their community.
St. John Ambulance
First aid training and medical assistance, and outreach that reaches far beyond it.
GenNext, United Way of Thunder Bay
Events that help the next generation of local leaders bring about change, and have fun doing it.
Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce
Initiatives including 100 People Who Care Thunder Bay and the Charity Connect program.
For many years
Operation Red Nose
A free safe-ride service whose donations support more than a hundred youth and amateur sports organizations.

Mental Health Matters, in honour of Dayna Karle
Community awareness event
That year we focused on overdoses, sexual assault and drug use in our city. Our local health unit reported 187 suspected overdoses in July and August 2021 alone, a number that has grown substantially since 2017. We need to talk about it, and make sure people know where to find help.
Thank you to every organization and guest speaker who joined us, to Beefcake's Burger Factory and Tim Hortons Memorial for feeding everyone, to TBT Newswatch and 99.9 The Bay for spreading the word, and to Carolyn Karle and her family and friends, for letting us honour her daughter Dayna, who died of an unintentional overdose.
