Your first visit

The hardest part is deciding to come.

Everything after that, we walk you through. Here is exactly what happens, from booking to your second session.

  1. Before

Book, and fill out intake from home

Almost everything can be done remotely: booking, intake forms, payments, and even uploading documents to share with your therapist.

    • Book online through Jane at any hour, or call and a real person will help.
    • We match you with a clinician trained in what you are working through.
    • Using insurance? Bring valid ID and proof of coverage. Booking through Health Canada? Speak with our admin team so it is set up correctly.
    • Please review our policies before your first appointment.
  2. Arriving

    The Cottage on Dawson

A brick cottage north of County Fair Plaza, next to Mezo Auto and Motors, not a clinical corridor.

    • Free parking on site. The Jumbo Gardens and John Street buses stop across the street at Dawson Road and Sherwood Drive.
    • We do our best to start on time so you are not in the waiting area long.
    • If you see someone you know, ask our staff and they can place you in a conference room.
    • There is a second exit if you would rather leave a different way.
  3. The session

    Fifty minutes, at your pace

Sessions are usually 50 minutes with your clinician, followed by 10 minutes for their notes and planning. Couples sessions are 1.5 hours.

    • You share what brought you in. There is no pressure to tell everything at once.
    • Most people sit face to face and talk. Do whatever feels comfortable.
    • Your clinical file can only be accessed by your therapist and their supervisor.
  4. After

A plan, and a next step

You leave with a clear sense of how you will work together and what comes next.

    • Book your next session online or at the front desk.
    • Receipts are provided so you can submit to your insurer.
    • Between sessions, your clinician may suggest something to try, like a worksheet or small experiment.

Take the first step.

Book online any time, or call and a real person will help you find the right clinician.
