What to expect
Going to see a counsellor when you are overwhelmed is as normal as going to the doctor when you are sick. Just being able to talk to someone without fear of judgment is a powerful way to get better.
Our social workers and psychotherapists provide assessment and treatment. As a trauma-informed clinic, many of our clinicians are trained in specialized trauma protocols, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Prolonged Exposure and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
Individual counselling
How it usually goes
Book or call
Book online through Jane, any time of day, or call and a real person will help you. Intake forms can be completed online.
Get matched
We place you with a clinician trained in what you are working through, usually quickly.
Your first session
You share what brought you in, at your own pace, and leave with a clear sense of how you will work together.
Do the work
We look for your strengths and use them to build new skills. Therapy does not try to fix you. It builds the resources to handle what life brings.

Questions, answered
More in the full FAQ.
Aren't people just lying there on a couch?
Some offices have couches, but very few therapists will ask you to lie down and look away. Most people prefer to sit face to face and talk. Do whatever feels comfortable so you get the most from your session.
Are you just going to ask me how that makes me feel?
We will ask, because we cannot help until we know. But counselling looks at much more than feelings: thoughts, experiences, behaviours, relationship patterns, goals and action plans.
Is counselling just for women?
Absolutely not. Mental health struggles are part of being human. Men, women, non-binary and transgender people all benefit from talking a problem through until the answer gets clearer.
What if I don't live in Thunder Bay?
Individual counselling is available virtually to clients anywhere in Ontario.
