Critical incident debriefing

When something happens at work, your team does not carry it alone.

Distressing events in the workplace are unavoidable. Debriefing soon after is essential to stabilization and recovery, and it protects the culture you have built.

What crisis support includes.

Licensed mental health clinicians help your organization through the crisis: identifying and managing emotional reactions, connecting people to aftercare, and helping everyone find their footing again.

  • On-site debriefing, soon after the incident
  • Individual and group therapy for the people affected
  • Referrals to other services when more is needed
  • Aftercare, and support returning to a sense of normal

How a debrief runs

Seven phases, one steady hand.

  1. 1

    Purpose

Why we are here, what will happen, and how the group stays safe.

  2. 2

    Share

What happened, in each person's words, at their own pace.

  3. 3

    Transition

Moving from the facts towards what it has meant to people.

  4. 4

    Explore

The reactions people are carrying, named out loud.

  5. 5

    Symptoms

How stress is showing up in bodies, sleep and focus.

  6. 6

    Educate

What is normal after a crisis, and what helps.

  7. 7

    Support

Aftercare, next steps, and where to turn.
